Hey everyone, I'm interested in organising a catch up with anyone who's interested via Skype (or alternative VOIP service) at some stage. Mostly for the benefit of those of us outside Auckland/New Zealand. I'm thinking say 4pm Saturday (NZ time) this weekend? Who is keen? I hardly ever seem to see anyone online on Skype, which is why I want to arrange something formally.

Sure. Why not a Google+ Hangout? I'm keen to see how that works.
YUp could do that, but I don't have a webcam. either I could buy a webcame, otherwise is it possible to join with voice-only? Also, can everyone get access to G+?
Confirmed that you can use a mic without a webcam. Would be nice to get a cam though.

The advantage of G+ is you can do a video conference call - you have to pay for Skype to do that. G+ only takes a minute to set up and it's gonna take over Facebook anyway
I'm happy with either, video isn't terribly important to me anyway.
Yeah but group voice chats with > 3 people can get a bit difficult. I think video would help.
Does Xbox Kinect have group video chat yet?
Don't think so, shouldn't be far away with MS' acquisition of Skype. But I don't have an XBox so meh...

OK this is being rescheduled for 3pm Saturday
2013 August (next weekend). I'll be on Skype and Google+ at this time, so we'll see which system wins the popularity contest. Hoping to get at least 4-5 peeps on.As of today, the 3rd, there is no way under the Gregorian calendar that the 20th is next weekend.
As in not this weekend but next. Stupid ambiguous language.

OK peeps remember 3pm tomorrow. I'll be on Google+ and Skype but am leaning toward G+ for ease of conference video calling. Let me know if anyone needs an invite.
