So, my Xbox is broken, its out of warranty and I dont really know whats happening in the console market re: new systems.

I thought this would be a good chance to have some extra curricular fun with the device that has given me many good times and approx 29,876 gamer points. (Cannot confirm this number cause the f@$%n things broken).

The cost to get it fixed is $99. Money I dont really want to spend given the following;
- I would like to spend more time doing stuff other than gaming, such as learning a lot more about finances, investments etc.
- There seems to be a lack of games that can hold my attention for longer than a few weeks.
- Possibility of moving to PC Gaming given my penchant for old school, 'simple' games - no/little cost involved.

Whats the deal with the next gen of consoles?
Anyone clue-ed up on this?
What the best website for this info?

Thanks Guys!

Next gen of consoles is at least 3 years away, probably 5 years. MS just released XBox Slim which is just a fancy looking 360 (with many improvements).

Yeah there's no new consoles on the horizon. If it were me I would sell it (you still get decent money for RROD consoles) and do something else with the money, eg Wii or PC or something different all together.

edit: Or blending would be pretty awesome.

Get rid of it, you'll get fifty bucks for it, more with games. I play a little PC gaming which is way better than xbox anyways.
